Sevilla Airport Hotels

Seville Airport Aeropuerto San Pablo  SVQ International Airport is 5 miles from the City Centre.

There are no hotels close to the airport, but as it is only a short taxi ride from Seville and most visitors are travelling to there, this does not present a problem.

There are frequent flights between Seville and most European City but no direct flights from the States and most European Cities. Flying time from the UK is around 2 hours,  from New York, around 9 not counting for stops

Getting Around

Seville is quite compact and a good way to get from one tourist attraction to another is to take a hop on hop off bus -There are 4 stops and the entire route takes approximately 75 minutes. The bus departs every 20 - 30 minutes from each stop. A popular if not to cheap way to see the major sights in Seville is to hire one of the many horse drawn carriages, very pleasant in the summer sunshine.

Santa Justa Train Station Seville, from here trains arrive and departs from and to most Spanish Cites.

Taxis are plentiful and by a large reasonably cheap.

Seville City Information

 

Seville  Andalucia’s Capital City is a vibrant and colourful place to visit especially in spring, when the Orange trees which line almost all of its streets are covered in blossom.

The city is a sophisticated blend of ancient and modern, with many chic boutiques and shops, Calle Las Sierpes is the centre point of the main shopping area, there are many shoe stores and crafts shops selling Andalucian products as well as high class jewellers and clothing stores. Leather clothing, shoes and lace work are of particularly high standard.

Some of the older areas are now also pedestrianised, but wherever you choose to go you are never too far away from a variety of cafes and Tapas bars Seville claims to be the mother of the idea of Tapas bars, a favourite past time is to wander from one to another trying a little of this or that as the day passes in night, try a real Spanish Omelette they are delicious.

Dusk and the cooler evening air breathes life into the city, as the Flamenco shows and Classical guitar studios vie with the restaurants and bars for you custom.

Points of Interest
The East Bank of the River Rio Guadalquivir is home to most of the major tourist attractions amongst which you will find Santa Cruz an extremely quaint and pretty area with winding streets an little courtyards and squares hosting many cafes. The Moors are  to thank for many marvelous examples of Seville's architecture including the gothic Cathedral with the Giralda, an Arabic minaret transformed into a Christian bell tower, La Giralda Bell Tower and Cathedral are in this area, and if you do by chance get lost in Seville remember La Giralda can be seen from most locations.

The Plaza de Espania is a magnificent semi circular building which was built to be the main attraction of the 1929 Seville exhibition. Across from here is the Parque Maria Luisa, within which are several libraries and museums as well as meandering paths and streams.

Saville is home to two Bull Fighting schools and the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza is always full for the weekly Bull fights, you will find it on Paseo de Cristobal Colon, which runs alongside the River Rio Guadalquivir. From this area there are several scenic boat trips.

Seville is a historical masterpiece full of Islamic monuments, gardens and flamenco festivals, and if you are thinking of going at peak travel periods, then it would be wise to book well ahead.
